OUR STORY
3rd Generation Family-Run Farm
A Legacy of Daylilies

The story of Daylily Connection began with a serendipitous miscommunication back in 2004—a miscommunication that would sow the seeds of a lifelong passion and a thriving family business.

It all started when Matt VanNatta asked his wife Sheila to read an article in Farm World that he thought their son Colt would find interesting. However, Sheila ended up reading a different article entirely—one about daylily farming.

Intrigued by what she read, Sheila and Matt decided to visit a daylily farm in southern Indiana to see a specific bloom she had fallen in love with, Primal Scream.

During their visit, the farmer mentioned he was looking to sell all of his daylilies, not just the one they admired. Recognizing an opportunity, Matt and Sheila seized it. They dedicated themselves to preparing 3.5 acres of land at their home, transforming it into a full-fledged daylily farm by 2006.

Tragically, Sheila passed away in 2014, but her spirit and dedication live on in Daylily Connection. Today, Matt, together with his son Colt, daughter-in-law Jessica, and grandchildren Hoyt and Lily, continues to nurture Sheila’s legacy. Their shared passion for growing daylilies has not only sustained the business but also strengthened their family bonds.

At Daylily Connection, we cherish our loyal customers who have been with us since Sheila’s vision took root. We remain committed to enhancing our gardens with new, high-quality daylily varieties, offering them in an environment that reflects our dedication to cleanliness and health.

Our flowers don’t just bloom—they grow home with you, enriching your spaces with the beauty that began as a simple miscommunication but blossomed into a cherished family tradition.
